A lot of first-time confusion around XBRL filing happens before anyone even opens BizFinx — simply because portal access itself is unclear.
This describes the general shape of access at a conceptual level. Exact screens and steps on Singapore government systems can change; always follow current instructions on the official CorpPass and BizFile+ sites.
What CorpPass actually is
CorpPass is Singapore's single sign-on system for businesses to transact with government agencies online, including ACRA. It is not specific to XBRL or BizFinx — the same CorpPass login is used across multiple government e-services.
If your company already uses CorpPass
If your company secretary or authorised officer already has CorpPass access set up for other ACRA or government transactions, a separate registration generally isn't required — the same login reaches BizFile+. Access issues at this stage are more often a permissions or role problem than a "need to register from scratch" problem.
If you're starting from scratch
For a company with no prior CorpPass setup, the general shape of onboarding is: the company's CorpPass Admin registers the entity, assigns e-service access for ACRA-related transactions to the relevant individual, and from there that person can reach BizFile+ to lodge the Annual Return with XBRL financial statements attached.

Who needs access
Not everyone involved in preparing a filing needs CorpPass access — typically only the person who will actually lodge the Annual Return through BizFile+ needs it directly. Someone preparing the XBRL data in BizFinx doesn't necessarily need CorpPass access themselves if a different person handles the final lodgement.
CorpPass registration and role assignment can take longer than expected the first time, particularly if there's any mismatch between company records and the account being registered.
Common early-stage confusion
- "Do I need to register separately for BizFinx?" — no separate BizFinx-only registration exists; BizFinx is a downloadable tool, not a login-based portal. Access to file what you prepare in BizFinx happens through BizFile+, via CorpPass.
- "Does everyone preparing the filing need CorpPass?" — no, only whoever formally lodges through BizFile+.
